The cruise KB 2019616 aboard the Research Vessel Kristine Bonnevie is conducted to test instrumentation related to the project the Nansen LEGACY. The LEGACY is the Norwegian Arctic research community’s joint effort to establish a holistic understanding of a changing marine Arctic climate and ecosystem. In KB 2019616 objectives are to test an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) integrated with microstructure sensors, a Jetyak, as well as an ascending vertical microstructure profiler. These instruments are tested in various configurations in a calm Norwegian fjord (Sulafjord and Storfjord near Ålesund), to identify an optimum solution and strategy for deployment in the research cruises planned in the LEGACY. Transects with the AUV, the Jetyak, and multiple vertical profiles using the microstructure profiler from a work boat were made. These test data have various levels of quality and are not reported here. Additionally reference profiles were collected from the ship, using a descending vertical microstructure profiler, standard conductivity temperature depth (CTD) system and the shipboard acoustic Doppler current profiler (SADCP). In total 23 CTD (conductivity temperature depth), 63 microstructure profiles and 5.5 days of SADCP data were collected.
