Sediment trap and boxcore sample log

    pi_name: Marit Reigstad, Yasemin Bodur

    Abstract

Sediment traps were deployed at six different depths (30, 40, 60, 90, 120 and 200m). From each depth, samples for fractionated algal pigments (Chl a and Chl a >10µm), fecal pellets, phytoplankton communities and POC/PON were taken. From 30, 60 and 200m depth, additional samples were taken for stable isotopes, HPLC pigments, IP25, metabarcoding and particulate biogenic silica

    Microalgae dynamics and health state

    pi_name: Geir Johnsen

    Abstract

Photosynhetic parameters of microalgae from the water column and under ice was measured using Pulse Amplitude Modulated fluorometer (PhytoPam). In addition, at each process station, water was filtered to look at pigment composition. Finally, water subsample was fixed in gluteraldehyde for information on cell traits (such as size) using flow cytometry.
