Project period: 08.09.2022 - 30.04.2024 (2029)
Observed Variable(s)
CRYOSPHERE>SNOW/ICE>SNOW DEPTH
Spice Autonomous snow depth station for real-time measurement
Manufacturer: A2 Photonic Sensors
Serial number: SPICE-32-LW
The instrument is checked twice a year (April/May and September) for basic maintenance (battery and memory card replacement).
Snow depth is measured with the ultrasonic sensor every 30 minutes and recorded on the internal SD card. Every 6 measurement data are sent to the LoRa gateway at the Polish Polar Station Hornsund. In case of the the failure of LoRaWAN transfer protocol data are recorded on the internal SD card
The sensor is installed approx. 2 m above snow-free land surface.

Spice Autonomous snow depth station for real-time measurement
Manufacturer: A2 Photonic Sensors
Serial number: SPICE-32-LW
The instrument is checked twice a year (April/May and September) for basic maintenance (battery and memory card replacement).
Air temperature is measured using the thermometer in the radiative cover, located at the top of the Spice stations. Measurements are taken every 30 minutes and recorded on the internal SD card. Every 6 measurement data are sent to the LoRa gateway at the Polish Polar Station Hornsund. In case of the the failure of LoRaWAN transfer protocol data are recorded on the internal SD card.
The sensor is installed approx. 2 m above snow-free land surface.
