New SIOS workshop will focus on the application of Copernicus satellite data for snow and ice research

This September the SIOS Knowledge Centre will be offering a workshop on how to access and process Copernicus satellite data, equipping researchers with the basic skills they need to understand and use multi-spectral satellite data for monitoring snow and ice on Svalbard.

The 3-day workshop will be designed by Dr Anna Maria Trofaier (SIOS Remote Sensing Officer) and Dr Gareth Rees (University of Cambridge) and will take place in Longyearbyen from 11 - 13 September 2017. The workshop is offered within the framework of SIOS’s role as a Copernicus Relay for Norway.

As satellite information becomes increasingly open and free, competence in the application of these data resources is timely and essential to researchers willing to improve their skillset.

More information on the workshop will follow in due course. For enquiries please contact the SIOS Remote Sensing Service (remotesensing@sios-svalbard.org).

12 June 2017: Applications for the Copernicus workshop are now open. To apply please fill in the application form and, together with a short statement and your CV, email it to the SIOS remote sensing service remotesensing@sios-svalbard.org.

The application form can be downloaded HERE.

Application deadline will be 21 July 2017.
