NY-ålesund TurbulencE Fiber-Optic eXperiment (NYTEFOX)

The behavior of the atmosphere during daylight hours, when it is usually well mixed by small whirls, is well understood. But what happens when it’s dark after sunset or during polar night and winds calm down?

The SIOS access project NYTEFOX set out to fill this knowledge gap by using a recently developed technique to collect a unique dataset capturing all air motions.

SIOS co-convening session at vEGU 2021

SIOS, represented by our remote sensing officer, is co-convening a session on airborne remote sensing at vEGU 2021.

The title of the session is "Airborne observations in multidisciplinary environmental research using European Research Infrastructures; observations, campaigns and future plans".

How did the pandemic influence your work in Svalbard this year?

SIOS-KC and the Remote Sensing Working group have prepared a survey to understand the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Svalbard science community during 2020.

SIOS Polar Night Week 2021 - Registration open!

SIOS supports the transformation of datasets identified during the core data mapping as SIOS Core Data (SCD) candidates to FAIR data.
