Abstract
Provide information about mesozooplankton seasonal, annual and regional variations in abundance, biomass (dry weight) and species composition along a latitudinal environmental gradient in the Barents Sea from South to North. The samples were taken for 5 distinct depths using Multinet 180 um (mesozooplankton) & 64 um (small mesozooplankton).

Sediment samples for analysis of meiofaunal diversity were taken from box cores. Six layers of the sediment (0-1, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6 cm) were sampled with a 5.5 cm (inner diameter) core. Samples were preserved in 70% ethanol with rose bengal for later analysis and kept at room temperature. This work is part of RF3 of the Nansen Legacy project, cruise JC3, Februrary-March 2022.

Abstract

Box core samples for analysis of algal pigments (chl a / phaeopigments) in sediment were taken for fluorometric analysis. Eight layers of the sediment (0-1, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-8, 8-10 cm) were sampled with a 4.7 cm (inner diameter) core and samples were frozen at -20 deg C for later analysis. This work is part of RF3 of the Nansen Legacy project, cruise JC3, February-March 2022
