An international observing system for long-term measurements in and around the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard addressing Earth System Science questions
An opportunity for Early Career Researchers from SIOS member institutions working with Earth Observation, Remote Sensing, or Geoinformation applications in Svalbard or other parts of the Arctic.
In March/April, SIOS invited proposals for acquiring aerial imagery and hyperspectral data using SIOS's airborne remote sensing platforms. 9 projects were funded and two flights were already conducted in June this year.
Our logistics officer has compiled a list of research and tourist vessels that are available for charter in Svalbard in order to facilitate planning of your fieldwork.
Due to travel restrictions in relation with the Covid-19 pandemic, many scientists from SIOS member institutions could not conduct fieldwork in Svalbard during spring and summer 2020. In these special times, SIOS-KC offered to assist where possible in order to avoid gaps in long-term data series.
