The fourth Polar Night Week, the annual gathering of the SIOS community, will take place 24-28 January 2022. The tentative programme is published and the registration form is now open!
The InnovateGLOF project had the goal to study the 2021 drainage of Setevatnet, a glacier damned lake near Ny-Ålesund, and learn more about the lake formation and its freshwater ecosystem, the mechanisms leading to the sudden drainage, the impact on the glacier and the effect this freshwater pulse has on the fjord.
SnowLive is a collaboration between the University of Oslo and the Norwegian Polar Institute that aims to provide snow and weather information from remote and challenging places such as glaciers or high elevations using wireless sensor network and off-the-shelf sensors.
